Therapy for Life Transitions & Feeling Stuck

therapy in los angeles and online throughout california

Sometimes it’s a big change: a new career, a breakup, a marriage, a new baby, or midlife. And sometimes nothing has changed at all, and that’s the problem.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • You’re in the middle of a change you chose, like a new job, an engagement, or a new baby, and you’re surprised by how anxious, sad, or unsettled you feel.

  • Your life looks fine on paper, but it feels flat, and you can’t quite say why.

  • You keep circling the same decision, whether to leave the job, end the relationship, or make the move, without ever making it.

  • You’re grieving something: a relationship that ended, an opportunity that didn’t happen, or the version of your life you thought you’d have.

  • You feel like you’re supposed to be further along by now, even though you’re not sure what “further along” would look like.

  • You’ve spent so long being who other people needed you to be that you’re not sure what you want for yourself.

Sometimes feeling stuck has less to do with not knowing what to do and more to do with understanding what’s holding you back.

How we’ll work on this

Sometimes feeling stuck comes with a big change, even one you chose. A new job, a marriage, or a new baby can leave you feeling uncertain, anxious, or strangely lost. Other times nothing has changed, and that’s the problem. You might know something in your life isn’t working anymore and still feel unable to do anything about it.

Part of what keeps people stuck is that moving forward usually means giving something up: an identity, a relationship, a sense of security, or an idea of who you thought you’d become. Even when you want something different, part of you may be holding on to what you’d be leaving behind, and that can show up as anxiety, restlessness, or not being able to move at all.

Therapy with me can help you

  • Move through a change, even one you wanted, without feeling like something’s wrong with you for finding it hard.

  • Figure out what’s missing and what you want now, not what you wanted ten years ago.

  • Make decisions with more confidence, even when the outcome is uncertain.

  • Make peace with what you’re leaving behind, so you can open yourself to what’s next.

  • Stop measuring your life against a timeline and start asking whether it feels right to you.

  • Know what you want for yourself, apart from what everyone else expects.
