Does any of this sound familiar?
You keep ending up with the same kind of person, even when you can see how it’s going to end.
You overanalyze texts, conversations, and subtle changes in someone’s behavior, wondering if you’ve done something wrong or if they’re pulling away.
You want closeness and connection, but when someone gets too close, you feel uncomfortable, pull away, or find reasons to keep your distance.
You put other people’s needs ahead of your own or struggle to set boundaries because you’re afraid of disappointing someone or losing the relationship.
You find yourself reacting more strongly than you’d like during disagreements, becoming anxious, defensive, angry, or shutting down, and later wondering why something small affected you so deeply.
Imagine feeling safe, understood, and fully yourself with the people closest to you.
How we’ll work on this
The way you relate to others is shaped by your personal history, family dynamics, and the ways you’ve learned to navigate difficult emotions. Some of these patterns once helped you feel safe or protected, but now they may be keeping you from the closeness and connection you want.
In therapy, we’ll look at how these experiences continue to shape what you expect from others, how you react emotionally, and what happens in your relationships. We’ll pay attention to your attachment patterns, the feelings underneath your reactions, and the ways you may find yourself doing the same things over and over, even when you know they’re not working. As you begin to understand what’s happening, you’ll have more room to respond differently instead of automatically falling back into old habits.
I’ll be actively involved in our conversations, asking questions, sharing observations, and helping you make sense of feelings that aren’t always easy to recognize or put into words.
Understanding the pattern is the start. From there, we’ll work through the emotions that keep you stuck and try out different ways of relating, and you’ll gradually feel more secure in yourself and your relationships. With time, what once felt difficult or unfamiliar can begin to feel more natural.
